Emily Brown
Emily received her B.S. in Chemistry from Haverford College in 2019. As an undergraduate, she worked towards development of a high-throughput antisolvent vapor diffusion perovskite growth, under Prof. Alex Norquist. She completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry at North Carolina State University, working with Prof. Phil Castellano and Prof. Thomas Theis on the use of visible and UV light and para-hydrogen for NMR-based hyperpolarization. Her work demonstrated the first use of visible light for the activation of para-hydrogen induced polarization, and used triplet photosensitization. She additionally established the first use of on-demand supply of substrates for signal amplification of reversible exchange utilizing visible light. Her dissertation further explored UV light and para-hydrogen induced polarization, as well as a range of understudied targets. As a Hoffman Postdoctoral Fellow, Emily will work with Prof. Ashok Ajoy on leveraging triplet-dynamic nuclear polarization to amplify detection.
